Xarelto Attorney
Popular Blood Thinning Medicine Causes Internal Bleeding
If you were prescribed Xarelto as an outpatient drug following surgery or as a preventative measure against a blood clot, you may be at risk for serious, life-threatening side effects. Xarelto is a popular blood thinning medicine that hit the market in 2011, but has since received thousands of complaints from patients who claim the drug caused serious health issues. The most reported side effect was uncontrollable internal bleeding. If you or someone you love experienced side effects after taking Xarelto, you may qualify for compensation.
Our lawyers at Kalfus & Nachman PC are passionate about fighting for the rights of the injured, and we want to help you if you or someone you love was negatively affected by Xarelto. We understand how traumatizing it can be to experience a medical emergency, which is why we want to help you pursue justice and compensation

About Xarelto
Johnson & Johnson and Bayer created Xarelto, which was approved by the FDA in 2011. By 2013, the drug had made more than $1 billion in sales in the United States alone. Xarelto was created as an anticoagulant, which thins the blood to treat blood clots. It was most frequently prescribed as an outpatient drug to individuals following surgery. In general, all blood thinning medicines increase the patient’s risk of internal bleeding. However, unlike most drugs of its kind, Xarelto was not created with an antidote to counteract this potentially deadly side effect.
Dangerous Side Effects of Xarelto
If a patient taking Xarelto does experience internal bleeding, the nature of the drug prevents the blood from clotting, meaning the bleeding continues until the drug is flushed from the body. This can potentially lead the patient to bleed out and may also damage major organs, loss of organ function, or death. In 2015, Xarelto received reports of more than 1,000 deaths as a direct result of the drug.
Internal bleeding, the main side effect of Xarelto, may lead to any of the following:
- Infection
- Organ damage
- Intracranial hemorrhage
- Abdominal hemorrhage
- Adrenal bleeding
- Excessive blood loss
- Stroke
- Death
Seek Compensation for Your Injury or the Loss of Your Loved One
Previous lawsuits have claimed Xarelto’s manufacturers, Johnson & Johnson and Bayer, failed to adequately test the drug, and neglected to warn patients and doctors of potentially dangerous side effects. If you experienced negative side effects after taking Xarelto, or your family suffered the loss of a loved one after they took Xarelto, we want to help. Our firm can use our ample resources to advocate on your behalf and defend your rights in court, if necessary. We can help you pursue compensation for damages, which may include medical expenses, loss of wages, and pain and suffering.
