Risks of Stockert 3T Heater-Cooler Devices
Between 2010 and 2016, the FDA received 79 reports of serious infections caused by contaminated heater-cooler devices and 12 associated deaths. These Stockert 3T products use water within the product as a means through which to control body temperature while a person undergoes an invasive surgery. The most common types of surgeries that require the use of heater-cooler devices are open-heart surgery and open-chest bypass surgery.
Symptoms of infection include:

- Difficulty breathing
- Loss of appetite
- Weight loss
- Nausea

- Night sweats
- Persistent coughing, especially with blood
