Being a native of Virginia, Paul attended Old Dominion University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He then attended Cleveland State University - Cleveland Marshall College of Law and received his law degree. His last year of law school was spent at the College of William & Mary - Marshall - Wythe school of law.

Paul is a member of both the Virginia and North Carolina State Bars, Norfolk Portsmouth Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers. He enjoys a very active litigation practice in Virginia and North Carolina, representing individuals injured by the wrongdoing of others. When away from the office, Paul enjoys physical fitness, kite surfing & long weekends on the North Carolina Outer Banks.
